16/06/05 - BACK FROM THE LAUNCH TOUR...

Slightly exhasted after a pretty frantic couple of weeks I must say, but all in all the first official "26 Reasons" tour for the Renny Field band was a roaring success!! The first two nights in Sydney at the Vanguard and Brass Monkey were Sold Out and Sunday night at the Vanguard was getting damn close! Not to metion a fantstic DVD shoot down at the Heritage Hotel in Bulli, which is by all reports looking pretty good! Just mixing it now and should have the finished product soon.  A BIG THANK YOU!! to everyone who made it along to one of the shows - your support really did make it all a fantastic experience! Melbourne was a pretty hectic trip - 6 shows in 5 days - but got to see a few different venues around the place and in between sampled a bit of the Melbourne nightlife. No complaints on either front! Looking forward to heading back there in August - stay tuned for dates to be announced. A full Diary of the Launch Dates and Melbourne tour will be posted soon - just working on it at the moment. Check the DIARIES page for the updates as they come through. Will be trying to make those a bit more frequent...

Keep an ear out next time you're flicking through the FM dial... 10/02/05 - HAPPY NEW YEAR 2005
OK Sorry everyone this isn't the most prompt New Years greeting in history, but the start of the year has been very busy. Away from the live scene, the exciting news is that we have just finished recording ALBUM NO 2!! The Album was recorded at 313 Studios in Wollongong. A big thanks to the Band - Matt Field (Drums), Andrew Fisher (Bass) and Jeff Stanley (Guitar), as well as guest intrumentalists Jordan (Double Bass), Sim (Cello) and Andrew (Violin). Not to forget our Producer/Engineer Ben Richards who worked tirelessly throughout the 16 days - some very late nights!! Thanks also to Brentan & Jacob for your help around the studio and also to those of you who came by to visit us.

So what does that mean?? Still a bit of work to be done before the release, but we are anticipating a launch gig some time in April at The Vanguard in Newtown. Stay tuned for that date, as if the last launch is anything to go by it will no doubt be a pretty special evening. In the mean time, we are playing a few shows prior to that to get back into the swing of things - the pick of the bunch is without a doubt the Cockatoo Island Festival, being held over three days out on Sydney Harbour. Can't Wait.

I will be posting a diary of some sort about the recording etc as well as some photos when I get a chance.

Stay tuned for other updates on the Gigs Page - CLICK HERE FOR GIGS

12/09/04 - CRONULLA SPRING FAIR + BRASS MONKEY
There's something going  on down there in the shire - something a bit different. Not different in a bad way, different in a way which makes me really look forward to playing there whenever we head down. Maybe it is the fact that the brass monkey has no televisions or poker machines? No - it's more than that. It's a general mood that makes us feel welcome and appreciated, so thank you people of Cronulla for getting behind Sydney's live music scene. I'm sure I am not the only one who feels this way. Hats off!

09/09/04 - RENNY FIELD BAND - 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY GIG @ THE CAT AND FIDDLE
Well it has been quite a year for me and the band. I can't list all the people I need to thank here, but I need to say thanks to everyone who has played a part - small or large - in getting this all off the ground. Firstly, a big shout out to everyone who has been to see a show, especially those of you (you know who you are) who have been to more than your fair share, and listened to those songs many times over. Your support has made it possible to continue to do this and continue striving for that next step. Also a big thanks to all those who have offered words of advice, offered messages of encouragement, and been happy spare a minute to talk to me about what's been going on. To the people who have given me the chance to play at venues in Australia and abroad - thanks for giving us a go. And finally to the band - brother Matt on Drums, Andrew Fisher on Bass, and the latest member Jeff Stanley on electric guitar (not forgetting Jason Mannell, who saw me through the first couple of months late last year on the Bass Guitar) - thanks for being legends!

Only a year in, so it's still early days, but it's been a great ride so far, and looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead.

Cheers for now,

Renny

PS - THANK YOU to everyone who came along last night to the Cat and Fiddle! Great seeing you as always!

PPS - Shire residents. Super Sunday (12th Sept.) coming up. Cronulla Spring Fair @ 4pm, then the Brass Monkey for the Spring Fair after Party that evening. Both with the full band.

02/09/04 - MANLY SEA EAGLES THIS SUNDAY SEPT 5
Just Announced - Band will be doing the pre-game show (Short Set) at Brookvale Oval this Sunday. Last match of the season vs the Melbourne Storm. Perhaps up to 15,000 people so should be a good laugh at the very least! Better take a few CD's with me just in case..... On stage @ 2PM, Kick-off @ 2.30PM.
Thanks to Newdawn productions for teeing it all up - www.newdawn.net.au

29/08/04 - BACK FROM THE STATES
Finally I have a chance to catch my breath here - got back on Thursday morning and have already played two gigs with another coming up tonight.... The trip to the US was a great experience. As always, there is much to be learned from that sort of thing and it's good to know whats going on in that part of the world. Plenty of opportunities - lots of independent stuff going on which is good to see. Would like to head back there again at the same time next year and perhaps do a longer tour. We'll see... Thanks to everyone who sent messages of support - really appreciated that when I was over there on my patma.
I will be posting a trip diary of some sort - just as soon as I get some more sleep..... Back soon.

04/08/04 - COMPILATION CD - MID-WEST MUSIC SUMMIT
Just confirmed today - the track "Fighting Against the Wind" will be appearing on a compilation CD for the Mid-west Music Summit in Indianapolis, USA. Quite an honour to be offered this opportunity as there are some 250 bands and artists that will be performing at the event. Only 4 days till I fly out now so starting to get pretty excited.... Stay tuned for more updates.
www.midwestmusicsummit.com

02/08/04 - ROAD TRIP - BATHURST / NEWCASTLE: 29/7 - 1/8/04
This was the band's first "mini-tour" of sorts. All of us had a blast, and apart from the lack of sleep I think we'll give it the official thumbs up! Looking forward to the next one. I have listed the dates in order - some good stories to tell. A big thanks to Andrew Fairley (aka "tour manager") and Denise Stanley (aka "Tour Promoter" or Jeff's (Guitarist) wife) for coming along...
Click on the link above to see the full run-down.

ANU Bar Canberra this Thursday 5th August!!!!

27/07/04
Due to other pending commitments, along with the proximity of the trip to the US, the London trip has been postponed for the time being - trying to do too much all at the same time I think.... But rest assured we will get there eventually! Expect at this stage it will be when things begin to warm up next year. Apologies to all ye Londoners, but promise that when we do evenutally make it over, it will be worth the wait!

19/07/04
Last Friday's show with the Chronics at the Harbord Diggers was another great night - those guys can sure pull a crowd. Thanks for having us along fellas - will no doubt be hooking up for another show later in the year. Preparations for the trip to the USA are coming along well - a few more dates starting to pop up here and there, so stay tuned to the gigs page for full details. Not long to go now!
Just about finished recording "Finding Solace" again - expect to be releasing it as a single after I get back from the States (hopefully a bit more aiplay, but a bit of a toss-of-the-coin thing...). Also some big news on the London front coming soon. Just have to sort a few of the finer points out, but we are looking good for a trip early October.

12/07/04
Weekend show with Diana Anaid was a great gig - thanks to everyone who made the trip down. Ended up doing 40min solo set and then 40mins with the band due to some problems with the booking arrangements for the other support band. The main band put on a great show - get set to be hearing more about this girl. www.dianaanaid.com
Sadly the Brookvale Oval gig was cancelled due to inclement weather, but we will be playing there later on in the season.
Currently have 2 shows booked for the Saturday in Indianapolis, as well as a show in Cincinatti TBC - stay tuned for more.

05/07/04 - MIDWEST MUSIC SUMMIT - INDIANAPOLIS USA
About a month ago now I sent a couple of copies of the Album across to apply for the Mid-west music summit in the States. Just found out yesterday that I have been invited to play at one of their showcase venues at the event, and not only that I might be able to play a few shows in other parts of the US whilst I am there! An incredible opportunity to go across and find out a bit more about the music scene over there, not to mention a great chance to meet a few bands/promoters etc and establish a few contacts to go back across sometime later on! I've got a month to prepare - there will no doubt be a few updates on this page in the lead-up, and I'll be doing a diary of some sort whilst I am over there. Travelling in solo mode this time with a view to taking the band over in the not too distant future. Thanks to Radio XM Unsigned in Washington DC for spinning the CD and keeping me updated - without you guys I would never have known that this even existed. www.xmradio.com,
www.midwestmusicsummit.com

03/07/04 - SUPPORT FOR DIESEL @ THE DIGGERS
Was great to play the support for Diesel on Saturday night at the Harbord Diggers. Man that guy can play a guitar - good to watch someone who has all those years of experience under the belt to see how it's done properly. Strongly advise you all to check out his solo show if you get a chance. And Mark - if you stumble across this website - thanks for the chat afterwards.

29/07/04 - SUN HERALD REVIEW
Where would I be without friends like Jimmy Rich, who kindly pointed out to me today that there was a nice little blurb published in the recent Sun Herald - check out the "Reviews" page for the full write up (small, but nice).

28/07/04 - BRASS MONKEY, CRONULLA:
Last night was a great night down in Cronulla. So good to see plenty of familiar faces - always makes things a whole lot more enjoyable. A big thank you to all the staff at the venue - many of my friends who had not been there before all commented on how much they enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly service - hats off to Jad and the crew!

Turns out the powers that be down at "The Monkey" were impressed enough with our set that they have asked us to return next Sunday for a repeat performance. Playing with the Alex Ryan band - looking forward to another great night (shame I am living at the other end of the city, but what are ya gonna do??). Gearing up for a decent weekend with Diesel on Saturday at the diggers.

A little post-script to last night's show - ended up sticking around for some friendly banter with a few of the staff members and another punter who caught the show - Terepai Richmond (aka the Whitlams Drummer). Needless to say Matt was pretty stoked about that! (And so were the rest of us - thanks for the chat mate).

24/07/04 - ANOTHER SUPPORT:
1 other great  support to announce -  Playing before Diana Anaid on Saturday  10th July at the Charlton Bar, Manly Pacific Hotel. Should be a great night.

22/07/04 - UPCOMING SUPPORT FOR DIESEL:
Almost on cue - I was thinking "Man what on earth am I going to write on that News page" and then I get an email out of the blue to say  I've got the support for Diesel at the Harbord Diggers on Saturday July 3rd. Nice one - I'll take it! Playing a Solo spot so pretty laid back. Doors open 8pm.

Also confirmed today, the band has been booked to play the pre-game entertainment before the Sea Eagles game at Brookvale Oval on Sunday July 11.
PS. No I will not be dressed as Tina Turner... And no cheesy cover versions of Run to Paradise either....

21/07/04 - INTRODUCING THE NEWS PAGE:

Right then - the start of the news page, not really sure how this is going to go, but I figure I'll just keep posting stuff as it happens (try to make it only the good stuff though....).

The big news at the moment is that we are heading to Bathurst at the End of July to play at the CSU Start Party - one of 4 or so bands to secure a spot alongside PACIFIER - should be HUGE! In addition to that I am trying to sort out some tour dates for the second half of 2004 - Already confirmed are trips to Newcastle and Canberra, with possible trips to Byron and Mebourne + Others to be announced. Possibly also a show in London (Yes - London, England) - To be confirmed.

Last night played a spot down at Bondi Hotel with the Camels and the Chronics - great night at a really good new venue. Crowd gets nice and close to the action, but Venue doesn't hold back with the sound so good vibe happening. Great couple of bands who you will no doubt be hearing about around the traps.  - www.thecamels.com . Keep an eye on the drum for other good shows at "Club Mojo".
